It seems I have not caught my breath even a minute since last weekend's birthday festivities, so right before Christmas arrives here in Australia, I would love to show you all just what We Three Divas were up to on stage!
I was honored and excited to join the goddess herself Alteouise DeVaughn in performance, and to be accompanied so eloquently by the sweet piano strains of Suna Lau Flynn. Ladies, it was a true pleasure! Music is glorious, and to perform it with such passion together is even MORE glorious!
For those of you who are looking at all the photos here, if you have an eagle musical eye, you may stop and wonder at a couple of them....is the instrument I am holding growing? Yes! It IS a VIOLA! Although I have performed in concerts on viola many times, it has been a while since my last. I made my debut with Alteouise and Suna by first performing the gorgeous Brahms' works written for mezzo-soprano, viola and piano:- Zwei Gesänge: "Gestillte Sehnsucht" and "Geistliches Wiegenlied" . My viola playing was met with hearty applause, and Alteouise let me continue on the violin during the concerts, so I must have passed the "viola test"!
We gave performances first at the historic Clink Theatre in Port Douglas, and then brought the show back to Cairns at thePullman Cairns International, finishing off the 3-concert weekend with a Christmas Concert amongst friends and supportive audience in the Tablelands with my Destiny family- especially Sharon Fittler and Scott Fittler.
Pianist Idris Harries and I enjoyed a night on stage performing oh, so many violin classics and even a few traditional carols! Thanks as always to my dear Bob Halstead, who not only photographed the Divas in action all weekend (and had to wait as we struck numerous poses), and chauffeured me from Pt Douglas to Cairns to the Atherton hinterlands, but also managed to dress accordingly himself, color-coordinating with me perfectly for every show! Now that must be true love!
